Cairo Opera House

The new opera house, located at the Gezira Exhibition Ground was open on October 3rd, 1988. Featuring a theme of Islamic design, Cairo Opera House was designed by a team of exceptionally talented Japanese and Egyptian architects. It is equipped with the most sophisticated audio-visual system and encompasses:

  • The Main Theater, a closed hall including 1200 seats, which is used for opera, ballet, and classic music performance.
  • The Second Theater is also a closed hall with 500 seats and is used for film festivals, conferences, and diverse events.
  • The Third Theater is an open-air one, and embraces 1000 seats.
  • Other halls are also available for training and rehearsals.
  • A Museum and a Library that contain references for the most significant artistic works.

City Stars Centre is a large shopping mall that provides a unique shopping and entertainment experience. The 643 store shopping center includes world-renowned diverse brand names, 2 indoor theme parks, a 21 state-of-the-art screen cinema complex, and diverse dining choices. 

El-Harrawi House

Longing for an authentically local evening? El Harrawi House could be a unique choice. Built in 1731 by Ahmed Ben Youssef El Serafi, El Harrawi House represents a traditional example of the Islamic houses existed during the Ottoman era. It is named after its last owner, Abd El Rahman El Harrawi, who was the Hakim (Doctor) of Qasr El Ayini Medical School.
The house is located in the heart of a well known quarter in Cairo. Behind Al Azhar Mosque, in Al Darb AL Ahmar area. Several other Islamic houses and monuments are found in Al Darb Al Ahmar surroundings.
At the moment El Harrawi House is utilized as a cultural center where different cultural events, lectures musical gala and artistic expositions take place. In addition, it is now home for the Arab House of Oud, managed by the famous oud player Naseer Shamma.
