The Fairmont Palliser Celebrates 100 Years of Happy Holidays

Publish Date: 27-Nov-2014

Calgary, Alta Thursday, November 27, 2014

Christmas Tree of Hope & Room at the Inn to Families in Need

Tis’ the season! This year, in honour of The Fairmont Palliser’s Centennial, the hotel will be celebrating 100 Years of Happy Holidays by raising money for Ronald McDonald House® Southern Alberta. An undecorated Christmas Tree of Hope is now on display in the hotel’s lobby and they are reaching out to the community for support to help decorate it raising funds for this important cause. This campaign, with 100 per cent of the funds raised going directly to help sick kids and their families, will coincide with Fairmont’s famous program in its 22nd year of operation, the fifth year at The Fairmont Palliser, by making Room at The Inn for out-of-town families visiting hospitalized relatives in Calgary.

Larry Mathieson, chief executive officer, Ronald McDonald House, says, “This holiday season, 23 out-of-town families with sick children receiving medical attention in a Calgary hospital will call Ronald McDonald House® Southern Alberta ‘home.’ Thanks to the generosity of The Fairmont Palliser, families staying at the House can feel a sense of normalcy and invite extended family to stay nearby through the Room at the Inn Program. We also are honoured to have been selected as the beneficiary of the hotel’s Christmas Tree of Hope as it will do just that, give hope and provide a sense of community to help us give sick children what they need most… their families.”

During the holiday season, the spirit of giving comes alive at The Fairmont Palliser. At a time when family is most important, The Fairmont Palliser is here to help. “We are thrilled to dedicate our 100 Years of Happy Holidays to help raise funds for a cause close to our hearts, Ronald McDonald House,” says Jacqueline Tyler, communications manager, The Fairmont Palliser. “We are looking forward to having the community feel like they too are making life more colourful for families in need by making a donation and decorating our Christmas Tree of Hope!”

There are two ways to get involved in The Fairmont Palliser’s Community Christmas Tree of Hopecampaign; the first, CORPORATE:  With a minimum $100 donation, companies can donate their own branded ornament and hang it on the tree by Dec. 17 – there are only 100 spots available!* The second, INDIVIDUAL: With a minimum $10 donation, guests and/or members of the community can select an ornament from the hotel’s baskets at the front or Fairmont Gold reception desks and hang it on the tree– only 100 ornaments available!**

CORPORATE names will be entered in to win a Weekend’s Stay on Fairmont Gold and INDIVIDUAL names will be entered in to win a Friday or Saturday Night’s Stay on Fairmont Gold! A ballot provided for each donation. Draws for CORPORATE and INDIVDUAL donations will be made on Monday, January 5, 2015

“It’s the challenge to sell out our corporate spots and individual ornaments that gets us excited!,” says Tyler.  “We are honoured to continue to provide accommodation assistance too with a program that has provided thousands of complimentary room night for families across North America. Based on availability, the hotel will donate up to 10 guestrooms per night (to a max. of seven room nights per family) to families who qualify between December 18, 2014 and January 12, 2015.”

A previous guest of the Room at the Innprogram at The Fairmont Palliser wrote, “We had a wonderful experience here over the holidays, which made it not so bad for being away from home and family. There are not enough words to express our thanks; we can only write this letter hoping it will touch your hearts as we have felt your love, compassion and caring in ours.”
