San Diego’s Forbes Five Star spa invites local residents and resort guests
to experience a mindfulness series

SAN DIEGO, CA – February 15, 2017 – Recently named the “#1 Luxury Hotel in the U.S.” in the 2017 TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards and home to a Forbes Five Star spa, one of only two dozen in the U.S., Fairmont Grand Del Mar today unveiled the resort’s newest offering: Wellbeing Retreats. This four-part mindfulness series will cultivate inner balance by teaching participants mind-body skills for modern life. The Wellbeing Retreats will be led by leading brain researcher Jim Cahill, who was trained in classical mindfulness methods under the guidance of the Dalai Lama’s interpreter and is also featured in Andrew Weil’s instructional material.

Each Wellbeing Retreat will focus on a specific topic, and although the greatest benefits are cumulative, participants may join for one, two, three or all four teachings from the yearlong series:

About James Cahill, MS, BCB
James Cahill performed brain research at The Scripps Research Institute in San Diego and founded a biotech consulting company specializing in synthetic bone and novel biomaterials. He has practiced clinically at The Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine and is the developer of Integrative Biofeedback and Contemplative Science Training, in response to the growing epidemic of stress-related disorders. His writings, lectures and clinical work synthesize two of the world’s great healing traditions: Western biomedical science and Eastern contemplative science.

Cahill trains health professionals, individuals and groups in practical, compassionate, transformational methods to precisely measure and control basic mind-body interactions. These systems, previously considered to be beyond voluntary control, include heart rate, breath patterns, muscle tension, blood flow and brainwave patterns. His methods integrate findings from a broad spectrum of disciplines and include health education, biofeedback, psychophysiology, mindfulness, sleep optimization, motivational behavior change and contemplative neuroscience.
