FAIRMONT HOTELS IN VANCOUVER CELEBRATE MOTHERS ON SUNDAY, MAY 8 WITH THE SECOND ANNUAL RUN IN THE PARK
For most moms running around is status quo but on Mother's Day - Sunday, May 8, it is encouraged at the Fairmont Mother's Day Run & Walk in Stanley Park. The categories - a 3 km, 5 km or a 10 km course - make it possible for everyone from the stroller set to grandma to participate, and the run will benefit a cause close to everyone's heart - Make-A-Wish Foundation BC & Yukon.  Registration starts from $49 and all moms receive a commemorative scarf. Visit www.RunMomRun.ca to register or for more information. Special accommodation rates are available at Fairmont Hotels in Vancouver.

"We wanted to create an annual event that reflects the outdoor lifestyle the city is known for, and something that families could do together", explains Helen Pratt, regional director of sales and marketing for Fairmont Hotels, Pacific Northwest.  "We are excited to present the Fairmont Mother's Day Walk & Run for the second year and celebrate the mothers in our lives."

On Saturday evening, a special three-course Mamma Mia table d'hote menu, created by ARC executive chef Karan Suri, offers a perfect pre-race meal. The dinner includes a starter of either local spring asparagus with 64 degree egg, hollandaise powder and house-cured pancetta or garden radishes with hazelnut and cocoa soil and a herb aioli.  The main event includes a choice of Spring Lamb Tagliatelle, First of the Season Halibut, or Potato Gnocchi with Golden Ears Cheesecrafters feta. For dessert, there is the choice of Nonna's Tiramisu or Venetian Scroppino. Priced at $54 for adults, half price for children ages six to 12 and free for children five and under.  Reservations can be made by calling 604 691 1818 or at arcdining@fairmont.com.

Race participants can warm-up with Goodlife Fitness at a mass Zumba class at 8:45am in Ceperley Park in Stanley Park, followed by the race kick off at 9am. The race ends at Jack Poole Plaza in Coal Harbour where there will be face painting for the kids, yoga and stretching, a selfie station to commemorate the day, and award presentation. Some unique award categories include Mom With the Most Children in the Race, The Fastest Mother/Daughter and Mother/Son Teams, and The Family with the Most Generations in the Race.

After the race, an exclusive Mother's Day brunch for participants and their friends will take place in the Fairmont Pacific Rim ballroom for $55. Reservations can be made online at www.RunMomRun.ca.  If a spot of tea is preferred, guests can refuel with finger sandwiches, scones, and sweet treats at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver's Mother's Day Tea. The Fairmont Mother's Day Run & Walk will benefit Make-A-Wish®BC & Yukon.  Since 1983, Make-A-Wish BC & Yukon have granted over 1,700 wishes for children with a life-threatening medical condition and many participants and volunteers at the event will be Make-A-Wish children, their supporters and their families.
