Department Stores

Nanjing, the capital city of Jiangsu Province, has became one of the modern commercial centers in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. While the city does not have quite the abundance of shopping Shanghai and Beijing does, it still holds its own.  Between Nanjing’s selection of shopping areas, malls, markets and boutiques, no matter what you’re in the market for, it won’t be hard to find. Here we’ve brought you the biggest and best areas for retail therapy in the city.

Deji Plaza – One of the largest in Nanjing and features flagship stores of numerous luxury brands including Louis Vuitton, Bvlgari, Cartier, Dior, Hermes, Chanel, Prada and Tiffany & Co. Located in the heart of the city at Xinjiekou, Deji Plaza also is home to an Ice Rink and an IMAX theater.

KIC Mall - Step out of the hotel lobby and you’re steps away from KIC Mall. From Starbucks and Queen’s Afternoon Tea to art exhibitions and sculptures, there is something for everyone in this newly opened mall. Choose from Cantonese, Korean, Sichuan and Japanese cuisine as great options for lunch or dinner. The mall also includes a bookstore and professional gym.

Librairie Avant-Garde - Originally an underground parking lot, this iconic bookstore features a wide range of original English books, Chinese novels, notebooks and decorative art pieces. Be sure to take a photo of the illuminated cross  located near the entrance of the bookstore. Located at 173 Guangzhou Road, Gulou District.

Shopping Streets/Areas

Xinjiekou - A wide selection of countless malls, restaurants, supermarkets and movie theaters. Look for Fashion Lady, an underground eclectic shopping area complete with popular music and flashing lights.

Shanghai Lu – A combination of hipster boutiques, dessert shops and bars.

Hunan Lu – A collection of standard Chinese malls with local fashions and street snacks. Great place to stop by after you visit Xuan Wu Lake.
